Balvenie Roadshow

The Balvenie Roadshow was a custom WordPress site built with the folks at LBi.

The Balvenie Roadshow was a custom WordPress site built while consulting with LBi, a New York-based digital agency. The project supported a Balvenie whisky promotional campaign centered on American craftsmanship — a tour visiting independent artisans and craftspeople across the United States.

The site's primary interactive feature was a user nomination form allowing visitors to submit craftspeople for consideration to be featured in the Roadshow. A custom back-end administration system was built to allow the Balvenie team to review, approve, or decline nominations, with the approved locations feeding into the site's public-facing content.

A custom Google Maps API integration displayed the locations of craftspeople the Roadshow had visited, giving the campaign a geographic narrative and allowing users to explore the tour's progress across the country. A combined social media feed pulled the latest Twitter posts and blog entries into a single stream, supporting the campaign's content cadence without requiring separate site updates for each channel. A Facebook Like capture system was also integrated to extend the promotional reach of the campaign.

On the front end, several custom jQuery modules were developed, including a custom paginator for navigating nomination and craftsperson content, a sliding form for the nomination submission experience, and a countdown element tracking the timeline of the Roadshow events.
