Birds Eye

Birds Eye involved adding several features to an existing Drupal application for a large multinational food company while consulting with Tenthwave.

Birds Eye is a large multinational frozen food company with a broad product line spanning vegetables, meals, and protein products. The project involved adding several features to an existing Drupal application for the brand, completed while consulting with Tenthwave, a New York-based digital agency.

The engagement was scoped as a feature addition rather than a full rebuild — the existing Drupal application provided the foundation, and the work focused on extending its functionality to better serve the site's recipe content section. Consumer food company websites typically maintain large recipe libraries, and organizing, filtering, and surfacing that content for visitors is a recurring technical challenge.

The primary deliverable was a custom tagging system for recipes, implemented across both the Drupal back end and the front-end user interface. On the back end, this involved extending the Drupal content type for recipes with additional taxonomy terms and field configurations, allowing editors to apply structured tags to each recipe entry. On the front end, the tagging system was surfaced to allow visitors to browse and filter recipes by tag, improving discoverability within a potentially large content library.

The consulting engagement with Tenthwave placed development contributions within the agency's established workflow for the Birds Eye account, requiring integration with the existing Drupal codebase and coordination with the agency's project team on technical approach and delivery.
