Imperial Distributors is a grocery store supply company that distributes products to independent and chain grocery retailers. The project involved building a custom WordPress ecommerce site to support a virtual conference, developed using WooCommerce and custom functionality while working with Digital Yalo.
The virtual conference context shaped the ecommerce requirements — rather than a standard product catalog, the platform needed to handle conference registrations and associated purchases in a structured way. WooCommerce provided the ecommerce foundation, with custom development layered on top to meet the specific operational requirements of a trade conference context.
A notable technical component was the daily order reporting system built for ecommerce processing. Reporting automation reduces the manual effort required for order management and ensures the client's operations team has accurate, up-to-date transaction data without extracting it manually from WooCommerce. Custom PDF generation for invoices extended this functionality to produce formatted invoice documents that could be sent to purchasers or retained for accounting purposes.
The shopping cart experience included specialized interactivity for both users and administrators. Custom user-facing cart behavior was implemented to support the conference's specific purchasing workflow, while the administrator interface was extended to give the operations team the visibility and controls needed to manage conference registrations and process orders. The project required coordinating WooCommerce's default functionality with custom WordPress plugin code to produce the integrated experience the client needed.
