Luckyrice is a company that organizes Asian food festivals in cities across the United States, celebrating Asian culinary culture through events, dinners, and tasting experiences. The project involved developing a custom WordPress theme for the company's website, built to support the operational and promotional needs of a multi-city festival organization.
Custom post types were developed for three distinct content categories: events, culinary council members, and press items. Each content type required its own administrative interface, data fields, and front-end display templates. The events post type supported the festival listings across different cities, with date, location, ticket, and programming information. The culinary council custom type presented the chefs and food personalities associated with the festivals. The press post type managed media coverage and publication features.
Ticket purchase functionality and menu viewing components were built as custom pages and components within the site, giving festival attendees access to event details and purchasing options directly through the WordPress site. Integrating ticket purchase workflows with the site's content requires careful UX design to connect informational content with transactional pages smoothly.
A Mailchimp integration was implemented for email newsletter signups, connecting the WordPress site to the client's email list management for ongoing event announcements and culinary content. The site was built with mobile responsiveness, ensuring festival content and ticket information were accessible across the phone and tablet devices that a consumer food and events audience increasingly uses to browse and purchase.
