Maruho

Maruho was a WordPress project for a medical device company, developed while working with LevLane.

Maruho is a Japanese pharmaceutical and medical device company with products focused on dermatology. The project involved developing a custom WordPress site for the company, completed while consulting with the team at LevLane, a Philadelphia-based advertising agency.

Medical device companies sell to healthcare provider audiences — physicians, practice managers, and clinical staff who need to efficiently identify the products relevant to their specialty and evaluate technical specifications. The site's product catalog required a search, browse, and filter system that allowed users to navigate Maruho's medical device offerings by relevant attributes rather than scrolling through a flat product list.

The custom WordPress theme incorporated this searchable and filterable product display as a central feature, built using WordPress custom post types for the device catalog and query-driven filtering on the front end. Implementing a product filter for a medical device catalog involves decisions about which attributes to expose as filters — device category, clinical application, or other product characteristics — and how to structure the underlying data model in WordPress to support efficient filtered queries.

The theming work aligned with Maruho's brand identity and the professional healthcare context in which the company operates, presenting technical product information in a format appropriate for clinical and purchasing decision-makers. The LevLane engagement placed development contributions within the agency's project workflow, with design direction managed by the agency's creative team.
