Penn Global

The Penn Global project involved providing support development and server administration tasks for the Global team at the University of Pennsylvania while consulting with Eastern Standard.

Penn Global is the international programs and engagement division of the University of Pennsylvania, managing Penn's global partnerships, international research initiatives, and overseas academic programs. The project provided ongoing support development and server administration for the Penn Global team's Drupal installation, completed while consulting with Eastern Standard.

The engagement followed a support model — development tasks addressed small feature requests, front-end fixes, debugging assignments, and server administration needs on an ongoing basis as they arose. This kind of iterative support requires familiarity with the existing Drupal installation's architecture, allowing targeted changes and fixes to be made without introducing regressions in adjacent functionality.

Front-end development was the primary focus — making visual adjustments, implementing small UI additions, and correcting presentation issues within the existing Drupal theme. Drupal debugging can span multiple layers: a visible issue might originate in CSS, in a view's configuration, in a content type's field setup, or in a module's behavior, requiring systematic diagnosis rather than surface-level fixes.

Server administration tasks were part of the support scope alongside application-level development, indicating responsibility for the operational environment housing the Drupal installation. The engagement was conducted within Eastern Standard's project framework for the University of Pennsylvania account, with the agency managing the relationship with Penn's Global team and scoping the development support tasks.
